NOTE: The following track credits and recording information have been newly compiled following painstaking research, including examination of the session tapes, studio track sheets, musician union contracts and record company files, plus previously published interviews and exclusive new conversations with many of the participants. Wherever possible, harmony & backing vocalists are listed in order from highest part to lowest part. Horn and woodwind credits were assigned mostly by comparing aural evidence from the session tapes to the union contracts and the players' known expertise. It is our belief that the information presented here is as close to being 100% accurate as is possible.

RECORDING DATE NOTES:
Some vocal session dates are indicated as "on or before" because the date given is that of a known rough mix featuring those vocals, which would have been done either at the conclusion of the vocal session in question, or at some point within a few days of the session.

ENGINEERING NOTES:
- Byron Preiss (author of The Beach Boys' official biogoraphy) had indicated that Jim Lockert and Phil Kaye served as additional engineers during some Pet Sounds sessions at Western Recorders.
- Credits for the Columbia engineers were determined in part by comparing handwriting from the Pet Sounds sessions track sheets (some of which bear the handwriting of multiple people, but rarely provide the engineers' names) to those from the SMiLE sessions (most of which are annotated with the engineers' names or initials).
- A notation in the Pet Sounds Sessions box set sessionography in regards to vocal session dates indicates, "It is also possible that some were recorded at Capitol."

Engineer: Chuck Britz
Vocals recorded at Western Recorders Studio 3, later on Wednesday December 22, 1965, and probably Wednesday December 29, 1965
Engineer: Chuck Britz, 2nd engineer: Winston Wong
NOTE: despite the session date of 12/29 appearing on the AFM guitar overdub contract, the first guitar overdub was clearly done simultaneously with dubdown A, as evidenced by the multiple takes made during the process (takes 1A-5A), and the date of 12/22 is inscribed on the tape box track sheet from that session (sessionman Billy Strange later recalled that his second guitar overdub was done immediately after the first, on the same day). Vocals were also added on that date, and probably on 12/29 (onto dubdown 1B) as well - so it would seem that the AFM contract for the 12/22 guitar overdub session wasn't drawn up until the 12/29 vocal session, and the then-current date was simply used.
